Hollywood Ridge, Wheeling Illinois

This is a popular subdivision in Wheeling that is strategically located between Dundee and Elmhurst Roads.  It was started in 1961 and built on fertile land that was once used as a dairy farm.  It was built, originally, around the elementary school, Eugene Field School (which is now grades K-5). Preference Homes, Inc. showed five basic floor plans and attempted to lure buyers from the city by boasting of open, flowing floor plans. Homes were designed so that a particular style and exterior were placed on each lot so that each home would have its own individuality and still be an architecturally attractive community. Most homes have brick fronts and aluminum siding.

Located between major expressways,  walking distance to the new Metra train, close to shopping, and to Wheeling Park District's Community and Recreation Center (including the Aquatic Pool).

Children are within walking distance to the elementary and middle schools. Jack London Middle School (grades 6-8) is accessible by foot bridge which stretches over Dundee Road. High school students are taken by bus to Buffalo Grove High School which is located west of the subdivision on Dundee Road.
